Federal Works Agency
(FWA)
   The FWA was established in 1939 to supervise the care and maintenance of public buildings and coordinate federal housing projects. Among others, it brought together the activities of the Works Progress Administration, the Public Works Administration, and the United States Housing Authority. The FWA was abolished in 1949 and replaced by the General Services Administration.
