War Relief Control Board

   Established in July 1942, the War Relief Control Board controlled and coordinated the collection and distribution of funds for war relief through charity organizations. It also provided aid for refugees and assistance for U.S. civilians affected by enemy action. By the time it came to an end in June 1945, the board had collected more than $253 million in cash and more than $224 million in kind.
